Forest Kindergarten Teacher Certification:
Practicum Requirements & Options
Certification requirement: 72 hours total
36 hours between Level 1 and 2. Plus 36 hours after Level 3
Option 1: Peer Mentoring (in one’s own program)
Video recording and reflective writing covering: transitions, circle, rhythm, ritual, domains of learning, storytelling, and working with naturalist knowledge.
Videotaping must include media release forms from adults and parents/guardians of children. Videos should be uploaded online to a password protected sharing method (such as Vimeo).
Self evaluation AND Teaching peer evaluation
Option 2: Approved Forest Kindergarten Mentor
Video recording and/or Academy instructor interview with approved Mentor, and reflective writing covering: transitions, circle, rhythm, ritual, domains of learning, storytelling, and working with naturalist knowledge.
Video recording must include media release forms from adults and parents/guardians of children. Upload video online to a password protected sharing method (such as Vimeo).
Self evaluation & Mentor evaluation (evaluation form or phone conversation w/ Academy instructor)
*Option 3: Approved Preschool (in a completely outdoor component)
*only if Options 1 or 2 are not available for practicum
